Privacy policy

The short version: this site has no accounts and no sign-up, it sets no tracking cookies, and it runs no analytics. The only information that ever leaves your browser is a postcode you type into the lookup — and that goes to postcodes.io, nowhere else.

Postcode lookups

When you enter a postcode and press “Find my council”, your browser sends that postcode to postcodes.io, a free public postcode service, to identify your billing authority. That is the lookup working as intended — no postcode is sent anywhere else, and this site does not receive or store the postcodes you enter. If you prefer, you can skip the lookup entirely and pick your council from the list instead; the calculator works exactly the same.

What stays in your browser

  • The calculator runs entirely on your device. Your council, band and discount choices are never transmitted or saved by this site.
  • This site sets no cookies of its own — no tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies.
  • There are no accounts, no newsletters and no forms that ask for your name, email address or payment details.

Hosting and server logs

The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Like almost every web host, Cloudflare may process basic technical request data (such as your IP address and browser type) to deliver pages and keep the service secure, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. We do not add any further logging, profiling or advertising technology on top of that, and we never sell or share personal data — we hold none to share.

Changes to this policy

If the way this site works ever changes — for example, if analytics were added — this page will be updated first, and the “last updated” date below will change with it.
